‘Diana’ Ceramic Bowl

$ 49.00

This unique decorative ceramic bowl by the bygone company ‘Diana’, was made using slip cast out of their Sydney based factory. Diana pottery (named after the Roman goddess of the hunt, the moon and birthing) operated in Marrickville between 1941 – 1966 and during the period was referred to as the most important pottery manufacturer in Australia. The company was involved in creating pieces to help with war efforts during WWII, and at the end of this time were able to expand their output and create a wider and more creative range of commercial goods. This piece would have been one of them, with a pale pink/apricot glaze that has been sprayed with a light cream glaze to give a speckled finish.
